XYZ Social Media Auto Publish Plugin

XYZ Social Media Auto Publish Plugin
If you want to get your video and animations noticed on the big wide web, you need to do some social marketing. The XYZ SMAP Social Media Auto Publish plugin is one option for auto publishing to your social networks directly from your Wordpress site.

I have been a fan of HootSuite for several years, but wanted a way to have more control over customization of my posts, as well as automation for my social posting. After searching the web and finding several options, I decided to try the XYZ SMAP plugin for Wordpress by XYZScripts.com.

With the plugin, you have the option to auto post to your Facebook profile and pages, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest boards and Google+ pages. You can also customize all the features for the plugin, from scheduling your posts to the content within the post. Below are just a few features that helped me to make my decision to use this plugin.

  1. Publish both your Wordpress posts, pages and portfolio pages

  2. Set which category and type of post will be published

  3. Choose which image in the post/page will be published with each post
For example, you can choose to use the Featured Image, the meta keyname, open graph tag or the first image in the content section of the post/page.

  4. Use template codes to set the content to be published
These codes can be set individually for each social network. For example, you may with to include the title and excerpt for your Pinterest post but add a Share link to the list for your Facebook post.

  5. Publish to all or some of your Facebook pages

  6. Publish to all or some of your Pinterest boards

  7. Create a list of hash tags

Your first step is to install the plugin and set up the default settings for the features mentioned above and more. Once you set the default options in the plugin settings, you will see a new section add to the post/page editor with controls for the plugin. You can use this section to control the plugin on an individual page or post basis. You can also set up individual settings for each social network.

For me, the only feature missing was the Instagram post. It would also be nice to be able to choose which Pinterest boards to include on an individual page/post basis.
