Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets
It’s Harry’s second year at Hogwarts and the deadly Chamber of Secrets has been opened. With more and more students in danger of being petrified and the looming threat of Hogwarts having to close, it’s up to Harry, Ron and Hermione to overcome Gilderoy Lockhart, the new but clueless Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, spiders and a basilisk in order to stop whoever has opened the chamber. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”.

∙ Ron and Harry have arrived at Hogwarts via the flying car and they’re trapped in the Whomping Willow tree. While the tree is attacking them, the front windshield splinters. It’s still that way when the car lands on the ground. But, as they’re driving away from the tree before it hits them again, the windshield is intact.

∙ Errol, the Weasley’s owl, is bringing the howler to Ron when it suddenly crashes onto the table. When Ron says “bloody bird’s a menace”, he picks up the letter and the flap on the back is open. But, in the close-up, Ron has to “unstick” the seal to open it.

∙ Gilderoy Lockhart gets hit by Professor Snape’s Expelliarmus spell. In the farther view, as Lockhart is thrown backwards, his wand can also be seen flying through the air. But, when Lockhart hits the floor, his wand is still in his right hand.

∙ Harry and Ron are trying to escape the spider lair. They find themselves surrounded when suddenly the enchanted car shows up. When Harry yells “let’s go”, the scene cuts to a rear view of the car and Hagrid’s dog, Fang, can be seen getting into the car. It then shows Ron jumping into the opposite side of the car. As Harry is running toward the left side of the car, just before he yells “Arania Exumai”, Fang is shown getting in the car again.

∙ CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! Harry has battled the basilisk and has come face to face with Tom Riddle a.k.a. Voldemort. Harry has the basilisk fang and stabs the bewitched book. A hole appears in Tom Riddle’s chest and, in the front view of him, both of his hands are empty. It cuts to the book and back to Tom Riddle and he’s now holding Harry’s wand in his right hand. His hands are empty again when he reaches for his face and eventually explodes.

∙ CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! Near the end of the movie, Lucius Malfoy confronts Dumbledore in the headmaster’s office. During the close-up of Malfoy, his blonde hair falls over his shoulders in a way where Jason Isaac’s natural brown hair can be seen on the back of his neck.

“Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” (2002) stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Richard Harris, Maggie Smith, Robbie Coltrane, Fiona Shaw, Richard Griffiths, Alan Rickman, Kenneth Branagh, Jason Isaacs, John Cleese, Mark Williams, Julie Walters, Bonnie Wright, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Matthew Lewis, and Tom Felton. It runs 161 minutes and is rated PG for some scary moments, some creature violence and mild language.
