Robin Hood - Men In Tights
Robin of Locksley returns home from fighting in the Crusades only to find his land gone and the country struggling under the tyranny of Prince John and the Sheriff of Rottingham. Unwilling to watch the poor suffer at their hands, Robin enlists the aid of his fellow countrymen, including Little John, Will Scarlet O’Hara, Blinkin and Ahchoo. Will he be able to save the country and win the hand of Lady Marian? Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “Robin Hood – Men In Tights”.
• At the beginning of the movie, the village has been set on fire. The house in the front has fire on the left and right sides of the roof when the lady yells “call the fire brigade”. The scene cuts to a farther view as people run and the roof is completely consumed by flames. The fire brigade wagon arrives, and the overhead view shows there are only portions of the roof in flames. The entire roof is engulfed again when it cuts back to the villagers talking about the credits.
• Robin is talking to the Sheriff of Rottingham. Robin cuts the ties on Rottingham’s saddle, causing him to turn upside down on the horse. The view of the horse as they’re laughing shows the saddle is still attached to the horse’s back. As the horse runs off with the Sheriff of Rottingham still attached, the saddle is now missing.
• Prince John is talking to a lady wearing a blue dress when the Sheriff of Rottingham barges in. Prince John says “Later”, and, in the close-up, the woman turns and leaves. It cuts to a view of the Sheriff of Rottingham walking toward him and the lady can be seen in the background walking away again.
• The Sheriff of Rottingham meets with Don Giovanni and his men regarding Robin. In the wider view of the four men, Rottingham smacks the table with both hands and yells, “That’s brilliant”. Both hands are up, off the table. It cuts to a front, close-up view when Rottingham says, “you do realize”, and his hands are down with his arm on the table.
“Robin Hood – Men In Tights”(1993) stars Cary Elwes, Richard Lewis, Roger Rees, Amy Yasbeck, Mark Blankfield, Dave Chappelle, Isaac Hayes, Megan Canvagh, Eric Allan Kramer, Matthew Porretta, Tracey Ullman, Patrick Stewart, Dom DeLuise, Dick Van Patten and Mel Brooks. It runs 104 minutes and is rated PG-13 for off-color humor.
