Arthur Christmas
Arthur is the younger son of Santa Claus and, although a bit clumsy, helps out with answering letters to Santa at the North Pole. Older brother, Steve, plans on being the next Santa, and works on keeping Santa’s yearly Christmas travels high tech and set precisely on target. Everything runs as clockwork until Arthur realizes Gwen, a young girl who had asked Santa for a bicycle, was forgotten. Panic ensues at the North Pole while Arthur, Grand Santa (his grandfather) and an elf, Bryony, use the older method of a sleigh with reindeer, to get to Gwen’s home—a mission they must complete before sunrise. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “Arthur Christmas”.
· Steve is in the control center watching the news footage from around the world on the monitors. A bird flies overhead and white poo falls on Steve’s right shoulder. A few moments later, when Steve is talking to Arthur and the others in the sleigh, the monitor shows there is no poo on his shoulder. It’s gone during their entire conversation. A few scenes later, when the other elves and Santa come into the control room, the bird poo is back on Steve’s right shoulder.
· Grand Santa, Bryony and Arthur are stranded in Cuba and have made a fire on the beach. Bryony tosses in the picture Gwen had drawn and Arthur quickly fishes it out. In the close-up of the picture, the left and top sections of the picture are singed. Later, as Arthur is cycling down the snow covered hillside to Gwen’s house, Arthur looks at the picture and it’s intact with no burn marks.
· Arthur has put the card to Gwen in her stocking. The red ribbon is tied to the card and Arthur back out of her room with the spool of ribbon for her to follow. He gets to the steps and sees his father. Arthur rushes to him and wraps his arms around his dad but he’s not carrying the spool of ribbon he had been holding, although the ribbon trail can be seen on the steps. A few moments later, when Santa, Grand Santa and Steve are arguing over who should put the bike under the tree, the other end of the ribbon is now attached to the bike.
“Arthur Christmas” (2011) features the voices of James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Bill Nighy, Jim Broadbent, Imelda Staunton, Ashley Jensen, Marc Wootton, Laura Linney, Eva Longoria, Ramona Marquez, Michael Palin, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Robbie Coltrane, Joan Cusack, Rhys Darby, Andy Serkis and Dominic West.
