The Pride tulips are very reliable plants that come back year after year, which isn’t true for all kinds of tulips. The flowers open on long strong stems. Pride tulips are recommended for beds and borders.

These tulips are sports of the Darwin tulip Oilioules. A number of varieties are available, each of which is named for the flower color.


Red Pride Tulip


Red Pride tulip is coral red to apple red with a light frost. The interior of the blossom is a strong red. The large flowers are five inches wide.
The vigorous plants are long lived. These are suitable for zones three through eight. The flowers are recommended for floral arrangements. Flowering is from mid to late April and May. The stems are nearly two feet tall.


Pink Pride Tulip

The Pink Pride tulip bears large blossoms with broad petals. Five inches wide, these tulips are a clear pink. The base is violet with ivory highlights. The stems are almost two feet in height.

Flowering occurs in April and May. This long lived bulb is recommended for zones three through eight.


Apricot Pride Tulip

Apricot Pride tulip is a vigorous plant with strong stems that are 22 inches in height. This is a good perennial tulip for it comes back year after year. It does well in zones three through eight.

The five inch wide blossoms appear from mid to late spring in April and May. The petals are orange pink to pink-apricot with some deep yellow at the base. The pink in this tulip is softer than that in the Royal Pride tulip.


Orange Pride Tulip

Orange Pride tulip is a reliable long lived perennial. The plant is recommended for zones three through eight. This is a mid season to late variety, blooming in April and May.

The five inch wide blooms are a perfect blend of apricot, salmon, rose, and pumpkin with white. The base has a touch of yellow. The flower is covered with a light frost. The stems are 22 inches tall.


Purple Pride Tulip

Purple Pride tulip is an exquisite lilac-purple. The interior is purplish-red. The purple seen in this flower is a breakthrough in tulip breeding. The stems are nearly two feet tall. Flowering is from mid to late spring. The long lived plant does well in zones three through eight.


Royal Pride Tulip

Suited to zones three through eight, this tulip blooms from mid season to late, usually in April and May.

This tulip is absolutely gorgeous. The petals are a very soft pink mingled with a slightly deeper shade of pink. The base is white to yellow.

Coral Pride Tulip

Coral Pride tulip does well in zones three through eight. The stem are nearly two feet in height. Flowering is from mid to late spring.

The blossoms are rose in the center of the petals with yellow along the edges. These are particularly beautiful. The five inch wide blossoms are large and upright with a bell-like shape.


Yellow Pride Tulip

Yellow Pride tulip is suited to zones three through eight. The stems stand nearly two feet tall.

The large, upright, five inch wide blooms are bell-shaped. These have tight, overlapping yellow petals with red-orange edges. Flowering takes place in mid to late spring.


Pride Tulip Mix

The John Scheeper catalog has a Pride tulip mix, which features a hundred Pride tulips. The Van Engelm catalog also has a Pride tulip mix as well, and it features five different colors.
