Colourful quotes
In another recent search of the 'quotations' site, someone searched for quotes associated with colour.

It is amazing how we can associate different feelings, places, people with certain colours, through the environment and things we experience. I decided to pink four colours and find quotes where people had associated them with certain qualities. Does everyone agree with what has been said?

Black is a colour of power and strength.

Black can be recognized as quite a bold colour which is probably why it is associated with such qualities such as power and strength. Sometimes the colour black can make a statement, it is a dull colour with not much life but it is vibrant in the fact that it's bold nature portrays these qualities of strength

Pink is the color of romance.

Many would argue that 'red' would be the colour of romance... red roses... red for valentines. However I picked this quote as I think I would agree with the fact that pink should be the colour of romance. I believe RED would be associated with more dark and mysterious topics due to the idea of blood... but pink has a softer tone to the colour, it isn't as striking as red but has the same shade.

Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises.

When I think of green I always think of nature, fresh colours, healthy colours ('eat your greens!') fields and colours of the summer. This quote associated it with the 'prime colour of the world' which I think paints out a poignant picture.

Yellow wakes me up in the morning. Yellow gets me on the bike every day.

The colour yellow, although maybe not everyone's favourite colour, is a colour of brightness, a colour that brightens people's day. Yellow reminds me of summer - a time where nearly everyone is happy and therefore I think I would associate the colour yellow with happiness.

I thought I would leave you with this quote:

Roy Lichtenstein:

"Color is crucial in painting, but it is very hard to talk about. There is almost nothing you can say that holds up as a generalization, because it depends on too many factors: size, modulation, the rest of the field, a certain consistency that color has with forms, and the statement you're trying to make."

This shows how important colour is in art and that the things you do with colours can help express the statement you are trying to make.
