The Diary Of Anne Frank

The Diary Of Anne Frank
It’s the days of World War II in Nazi occupied Holland, and the Frank and the Van Daan families must go into hiding. The two Jewish families are helped by the shopkeeper Kraler, who hides them above his shop. During their time in hiding, young Anne Frank decides to keep a diary entailing everyday life being secluded in the attic. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “The Diary of Anne Frank”.

· Anne and her father are dancing. As they finish, she runs over and embraces him. In the close-up of Anne (rear view of her dad), his right arm and hand wrap around her. In the wider view, as Mrs. Van Daan enter, his right hand is on Anne’s face.

· Anne is cleaning up after spilling the milk on Mrs. Van Daan’s fur coat. In the wider view, when her mother says, “You must not behave in that way”, Anne picks up the glass from the floor and places it next to the bottle of milk on the table. It cuts to a different angle when her mother says, “I don’t mean that…”, and the glass is gone. A few moments later, when Anne runs out, she throws the towel she’s been cleaning with on the table. It cuts back to her mother at the table and the cloth is gone.

· Anne’s mother is comforting her after she has a nightmare and wakes up screaming. In the wider view of her and her mother, her blanket is pulled over Anne, covering her arms, up to her hands. In the close-up of Anne, when her mother tells her “Good night”, Anne is shown turning to her left, with her right arm over the blanket. It cuts back to the original view and Anne’s arm is under the covers again. In the next close-up, her arm is out again with her right hand near her face.

“The Diary of Anne Frank” (1959) stars Millie Perkins, Shelley Winters, Joseph Schildkraut, Richard Beymer, Gusti Huber, Lou Jacobi, Diane Baker, Douglas Spencer and Ed Wynn. It runs 180 minutes and is rated as “Approved”.
