This ripens with the Delicious and about a month after McIntosh starting in mid to late September continuing into late October. These are medium to small, rounded flattish apples.

Macoun apples need to be picked at the right time. Picking too late can mean the flavor has begun to diminish. The trick is not to pick too early.

The flesh is relatively soft and tender with an aromatic, very juicy sweet rich flavor. Macoun apple is great tasting and tastes better than McIntosh. In fact it is considered to be the best flavored of the McIntosh type apples.
