Boston Coffee Cake - No Sugar Added

Boston Coffee Cake - No Sugar Added
Boston Coffee Cake Muffins - No Sugar Added are quite tasty, and really do have a nice texture of coffee cake. With no sugar added, they're good for weaning off of sweet treats.

That's not to say that these things are exactly healthy for you. A single muffin has 370 calories, 60g of carbs and only 2g of fiber. There's 340mg of salt in here. This doesn't exactly compare well to a real, healthy breakfast.

That being said, though, there are times when you have a craving - or when you're trying to help a friend ease off of their high sugar diet. It can be difficult to go cold turkey if you've trained yourself to eat super-bad-for-you sugary treats every morning for breakfast. In that situation, you are at least moving in the right direction by eating these things. Your tongue gets the same flavor, but you get fewer carbs / calories than normal with this muffin.

Again, I did like the flavor quite a bit. The muffiny base went really well with the coffee cake style topping. I personally would like more cinnamon on the top - especially since cinnamon is so healthy for you - but it's easy enough to add more cinnamon on yourself.

The #1 ingredient in these is maltitol so if you're someone who is sensitive to sugar alcohols, be sure to try out only a nibble of one first. You might have a hefty reaction to this muffin. For the rest of us who don't have any problems with maltitol, it's a treat to enjoy.

Boston Coffee Cake company is based in Ward Hill, MA. I don't think they sell directly, so talk to your local store and see if they can bring some in for you!
