Six Badges to Apple Teacher Recognition

Six Badges to Apple Teacher Recognition
Once you have joined the Apple Teacher Program, your first task is to learn the foundational skills that you will need to be successful in the program. You can choose one of two paths, depending on whether you are working on an Apple Mac or an iPad. Of course if you wish, you can complete both paths but you can't complete part of one and part of the other path. You must complete at least one.

Each path leads to several lessons and six interactive quizzes. Once you pass those six quizzes, you are recognized as an Apple Teacher. You also get a nice badge when you complete each quiz.

So just what will you be learning? Let's take the Mac pathway for example. As you see from the table above, this pathway includes the Mac itself, Pages, Keynote, Numbers. iMovie and GarageBand. For each, you will follow a small group of slideshow style lessons that cover the most important features. For the Mac, some of those features include the Finder, Safari, Photo Booth, Notes, Screenshots and more. As you can see, the program concentrates on the apps that your students will use for creative projects.

These lessons do not go into great detail but they do cover all the bells and whistles, such as how to start a new project, style text or add an image in to a document. The program does have some fun ways to document your progress.

Apple Teacher Foundations Journal
Once you are ready, you can take the multiple choice quizzes. When you pass, you will unlock one of the six badges on your Apple Teacher Profile page. As you work on these foundational skills, you can keep a journal of your progress by downloading the Apple Teacher Foundations Journal. This journal is a Pages document with page layouts for jotting down your notes about the process and your ideas for integrating your new skills into the classroom. You will find other pages such as an Achievements chart for your badges, a page for adding a personal video and a page containing resource links. Of course, this project will give you more experience using the Pages app.

#AppleTeacher Mac Memoji
Do you use Memoji? Another fun project that you can download is the My Memoji Laptop Apple Teacher Sticker. This is a Keynote template file for creating your own #AppleTeacher Mac Memoji. The purpose of this project is to use the predesigned Memoji that is peaking out from behind the Apple Laptop. After adding the #AppleTeacher sticker to the cover of the Laptop, you can use the Memoji for your social profile image. As with the Pages project, this project also gives you more experience using Keynote.
