Gluten Free Wylde Pretzels are a crispy snack

Gluten Free Wylde Pretzels are a crispy snack
A month ago while Matthew was being weighed at his feeding therapy session I spotted a box of pretzels. The Dietitian gave us a few bags of the Wylde Pretzels in the four ounce size. These are free of wheat, gluten, milk, lactose, nuts, soy, eggs, casein and low in protein. They are available in either a four or eight ounce bag by Ener-G.

These pretzels are circle rings that are very crispy. A four ounce bag contains four servings, yet Nicholas and I can easily munch on a bag on the drive home from therapy with a little leftover. The calories for one serving is 130, with 30 from fat.

The ingredients are - Potato Flour, Corn Starch, Rice Flour, Palm Oil, Corn Glucose, Modified Corn Starch, Ener-G Baking Powder (Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Potato Starch, Monocalcium Phosphate), Cellulose Gum, Bamboo Fiber, salt, Yeast

Ener-G Foods is located in Seattle, Washington at 1-800-331-5222 with the website at www.ener-g.com 8 ounce pretzels. You will get one gram of sugar, zero cholesterol, and 24 grams of carbohydrates. The Wylde Pretzels should be stored in a dry place.

The bag states these are recommended for the dietary management of gluten sensitive enteropathies including steatorrhea due to gluten sensitivity, celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis.

As someone plagued my whole life with eczema my research into relief of this skin condition brings up the removal of wheat from the diet to get rid of the eczema symptoms. I love to snack on pretzels and decided to make the Wylde Pretzels my brand due to the taste and ingredients.

I went to their Website and found the eight ounce bag was on sale and made some purchases last week. This is item # 4725 selling for $3.49 with the current sale price at $2.97, a 15% discount. The 4 ounce bag sells for $1.79 and is item #4724.

The date to be used on the bags we had were 10-20-06. The eight ounce bag is known as the family size. These would be great to pack in a baggie for lunch, snack at work and to have on hand for parties and functions. When there is a party or event at school this is a great item for the parents to bring and for the teachers and aides to have on hand at school. This will be helpful for the families that have their children on special diets or might be gluten-casein free.

There are hardly any broken pretzels and they are so easy to pop in your mouth and crunch away. They are very tasty, no need for something to water it down either. They are not salty like most pretzels on the market, but I don't miss those salty types that require a drink after consuming them. At the bottom of the bag there is about a pinch of salt remaining, nothing similar to major brands having handfuls of salt left over.

Ener-G foods are kosher certified. They send their online orders via Federal Express and have reasonable shipping charges. I also ordered a corn loaf and cookies. I am looking forward to getting my order and trying the items.
