Chocolate Cookies free of Gluten and Casein

Chocolate Cookies free of Gluten and Casein
My first order with Ener-G was a real success. I had previously tried the pretzels through samples from the feeding therapy and browsed through their website trying to find cookies that I would like.

I went for item number 4562, Chocolate Cookies in a package of 16 for the price on 12-31-05 at $5.09. The price in the catalog I received with my order along with the website list the price now in 2006 at $5.49. The company Ener-G is located in Seattle, Washington. My order was received via Federal Express.

The cookies are in a plastic package of two rows within another plastic overwrap so you can remove the tray with ease. Several of crumbled upon arrival. The cookies are very tasty and I ate the crumbs as well! The description on their website is accurate, " A simple yet rich chocolate wafer."

There are 16 cookies per package with a serving size being only one cookie. This consists of 60 calories with 25 from fat. This means you can have more than one cookie, which I did. There is no trans fat, protein or fiber. These are free of wheat, gluten, casein, dairy, nut and yeast.

It is even suggested on the site that these Chocolate Cookies can be used to make pie crusts. You can serve with ice cream or microwave for 30 seconds. I did not try either of these and will need to make another purchase before doing so. The ingredients are:

Potato starch, organic evaporated cane juice, filtered water, white rice flour, brown sugar, powdered whole eggs, cocoa powder, vanilla powder [(vanilla bean extractives, dextrose (corn sugar)], salt, and sodium carboxymethylcellulose.

There are only 4 grams of sugar in this 9.03 ounce package. This is sold also in a case of six packages for $29.65. This seems like a great deal for preparing for Valentine's Day and Easter. Great treats for those who are on a gfcf diet and those who have Celiac Disease.

The next order I may even let my son Nicholas try a cookie. They are available at www.ener-g.com and taste great.
