Stacking

One of my favorite features is the new Stacking feature. When I work on my digital art in Photoshop or Illustrator, I save several progressive versions of the same image. It is nice to stack all these versions together under a common thumbnail or group images for batch processing. To stack several images together, use the Shift key on your keyboard to select a group of images. Then, right click on the group and choose Stack, Group as Stack from the pop-up menu. After you have stacked your images, you will notice a small number in the upper left corner of the stack. This number indicates the number of images in the stack and also works as a toggle button to open and close the stack.

Choose Your View

At the bottom right of the workspace and next to the slider bar are three icons. These icons control the way the images are displayed in the Content Panel. Icon 1 is for the default three-column view. Icon 2 is for the Horizontal Filmstrip view which will open the Preview Panel to span most of the workspace and display a larger version of the selected image. The Content Panel is now under the Preview Panel and displays the thumbnails horizontally. Icon 3 will open the Content Panel over most of the workspace and display both thumbnails and metadata information for each image.

The New Loupe Tool

Another new tool that is sure to become a favorite is the Loupe Tool which acts as a floating magnifier tool. To use it, hold your mouse over the image until your cursor changes to a plus sign and then click on the image. The magnifier tool will open. To move this tool over your image, click and drag the corner tab. To close the tool, click on the image again.
