Jardine Parrots are from the Poicephalus family of birds. There are three sub-species of Jardine - the black-wing, the lessor and and greater. The Lessor Jardine is the most common of these birds.

When asked to tell me something about Kukub, this is what Aletta told me.
"Kukub loves to play hide and seek behind a towel.
He likes to eat just about everything that I give him such as raw cauliflower - but less so the broccoli.
He loves green string beans and peas in the pod and the bigger ones mind you. He is very particular about that!
He loves most fruit, even banana that I give him from my shoulder. Passion fruit is most loved, and so is orange and prickly-pear. He loves grapes and apple too.
His favourite toy is the rope. He swings from it and after he has a bath he hangs from it and shakes the excess water off, which is too cute to see."

If you have a Jardine Parrot (or even if you do not), please drop by the bird forum where we can talk about their personalities and their care. You can get to the forum by clicking on one of the links below for recent posts. We would love to chat with you.
