I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Maureen Staccato and I am the new Editor for the Home Improvement site at BellaOnline.com. I have some really creative and budget friendly ideas to help enhance and improve your home. Whether you have a single family, condo or a flat, there is something for everyone.

A little about Maureen:
My main objective is to make it known that women are just as capable as men to do their own improvements to their homes. To be able to provide a woman's perspective and provide support to all of those who are beginners to the ultimate improvement guru.

When I first purchased my home, I was beside myself when I had received estimates for the improvements needed. to expand my bedroom to a decent size master, the cheapest estimate I got was $12,000. There was no way I was going to be able to come up with that kind of money. With some words of kindness and support from a friend, I grabbed my hammer one day and just started to rip down the paneling and just kept on going until it was completed. By the time I finished (only 3 months) I had gone from a 12x9 master to a 12x35 master bedroom with a 16 ft closet and plush carpeting- the carpet was the only thing I had installed. My total out of pocket including carpeting was only $2500.

The feeling of accomplishment was amazing and I want to share this feeling and let other women know that YES THEY CAN! Since then I have renovated my entire home with my own hands and have done it for a fraction of the cost.
