January 10 2012 Cancer Newsletter

Hello and I hope you are having a great start to 2012!

My latest article is an Interview with a doctor in the UK about Sepsis, or what I’ve always called blood poisoning. It is not contagious; however, if someone has symptoms, they need to get to an ER immediately, within 1 hr. of symptoms.

Symptoms: very high fever over 103F; violent vomiting; incoherence; red rash, splotches; rapid heart rate; rapid breathing.

SEPSIS6: a protocol instituted by Global Sepsis Alliance, and UK Sepsis Trust

Notify EMS to: 1) Oxygen 2) Blood culture 3) IV Antibiotics 4) Fluid resuscitation 5) Serum lactate 6) Catheterize

World Sepsis Day is September 12, 2012

Sepsis is also known as blood poisoning, Bacteremia. The symptoms can appear like the flu, however, with Sepsis (normally not always) there is NO chest congestion, runny nose.

It is a bacterial infection in the bloodstream, and is NOT contageous.

Hope you enjoy the article!
Have a blessed and healthy week!
