Hi Folks, I want to apologize for letting a little more than a month lapse between newsletters and will be getting them out sooner now. I will try to do it once a week but will more likely be once every two weeks or sooner depending on how much wrestling news come out between newsletters. Well, onto the news...
There still isn't much happening in the way of news but I did find a couple of things. The WWE will start production on its fourth film entitled "Twelve Rounds" at the end of January and will go until May or so and the WWE is looking for a release date of September this year.
It also looks like John Cena will have the title role as a detective having his worse day ever. No other stars have been announced yet. It also looks like Renny Harlin of "Die Hard" directorial fame will be the director of this film which will also be Cena's second starring role film.
Ashley is back in the WWE after her Survivor:China stint and her hair was shorter and all of her mouth piercings were gone. She came back on Raw last Monday to be involved in a lingerie pillow fight with the other divas. She did get the pinfall after a flying elbow drop down onto Jillian who was sprawled out on the bed in the ring and held there by a couple of other divas.
I don't know why they didn't have her come back in a regular match or saving someone from the Glamazon, Beth Phoenix. It would have made for a better story and a better story line. Of course, the WWE is not known for their great storylines lately anyway.
Those of living in Georgia may never see a WWE program live there anymore if the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission has their way. They want to impose stricter regulations on any wrestling company that chooses to wrestle in Georgia and that includes drug testing of all wrestling talent before the shows. The WWE says that if these regulations pass, they will no longer hold shows or events in the Peach State.
In the continuing saga of the Benoit tragedy, the WWE refused an offer to pay Martina Benoit and his two survivng children two million dollars and if the WWE did pay it, there would have been no further litigation and the settlement would have paid Benoit's family "in recognition of their father's contribution to the company."
Now there will be a costly court between the WWE and Michael Benoit, the father of Chris Benoit.
The Canadian Press reports that the estate is worth between $1.5 and $3.0 million and involves a dispute over the order of death between Nancy and their son, Daniel Benoit. Cary Icther, attorney for Michael Benoit, told the Press that Chris and Nancy's sides of the family hope to resolve the dispute within a week without requiring further court action.
In TNA News...New Japan claimed 27,000 for its annual Tokyo Dome show that featured TNA wrestlers on the card. The TNA production crew, including Jeremy Borash, was on location to record matches and segments to air on their Global Impact special which will air on January 17 on Spike TV. The feature match is supposed to be Kurt Angle defending the IWGP Title agaianst Yuji Nagata.
As of early December, TNA management had a meeting with the wrestlers and offered anyone who wanted to get out of their contracts that they could do so. Many there thought Christian would do it but the only person who opted to leave was Senshi aka Low Ki.
Well, that is all the news I have right now. I will sned more out in a week or two or as the news happens.
See you at the matches!!!
