Here is the original photo of the edging.
This is the basic construction of the edging. Note the double line on the upper side makes it look as if there is a second row of tatting which attaches to the scallop section. However, the order of tatting makes its possible to tat this design in one pass.
The one pass method begins with the ring on the far left.
R 6 - 6 clr rw CH 7 rw
R 7 - 7 clr rw CH 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 + (join to the picot of the ring) CH 7 RW R 6 - 6 clr rw
CH 7 and join to the same picot
Continue CH 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 + (join to the base of the larger ring)
CH 7 + (join to the base of the initial ring) rw
CH 7 rw
*R 6 + (join to the picot of the chain above as indicated on the diagram) 6 clr rw
CH 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 rw* Repeat * - * 3 times more.
CH 7 + (join to the base of ring above.
Repeat for the length desired.

The header and next two rows may be tatted as illustrated. The nine-point motif with the clover in the center may be replaced by this new motif by Hees. Reproduce the last row joining to whatever picot is the closet as you go across.
