Autism Spectrum Disorders

January 27 2007 Autism Spectrum Disorders Newsletter

Greetings Everyone -

It sure has been busy here the past week. Matthew finishes intersession next Tuesday and has no school until the following Friday when it goes back to the regular schedule. Intersession is the Extended School Year option for year round schools for the A track he is on. I am going to miss out on a meeting (SEMAC) that is on the autism programs for Los Angeles Unified School District unless I decide to bring him along, and hope he sits for the presentation, or maybe he could be used as an example.

Nicholas went on a field trip yesterday (Friday) that was really inappropriate for children. He did not want to go but I pushed him to go to this museum to learn other things besides animals, and instead he was traumatized by what he saw. I will be writing more about that experience on http://autismfamilies.gather.com.

**TV NOTE** MONDAY, JAN 29th - THE VIEW WILL BE AN AUTISM THEMED SHOW. The guest host is Toni Braxton, who has two sons ages 3.5 and 4.5 with one being on the spectrum. Here in Los Angeles it is on 10 AM ABC and is for one hour. Check your tv guide for the channel and time for your area. Their website also lists recaps from shows in case you miss it.

Check out the BellaOnline forums as they had a complete upgrade this month and it is a nice change. I am going to be writing an article soon on rules for home visits and another one on some conferences coming up next month. With Matthew being home for several days articles will be posted with more frequency during this time period.

An article I wrote earlier in the week - Personalized Children's Books that teach social and safety skills:

This is a natural patch that is good for autistic kids that cannot tolerate medicine and are suffering with a cough or cold.
