Greetings to folks near and far. Hope you are enjoying your winter time and that your weather is not too bad. Today in beautiful Washoe Valley in the high desert we are enjoying a sunny and mild day, almost like spring weather.
Yesterday we took a drive around the county and went through Red Rock, just north of Reno. It was a gorgeous day for a ride, with snow still hanging out in shady spots and on the mountains surrounding us. We then drove on down to Susanville in California. On the way it was such a wonderful sight to see the desert, the dried up area of Honey Lake and the snow covered mountains not too distant from the desert plains. The white mountains made a beautiful background for the subtle colors of the desert.
We saw many desert hawks, Red-Tailed Hawks, a buffalo on a farm and an emu on another farm.! We had a great day!
In Lassen County we found the grave site and monument of Peter Lassen, the pioneer whom Lassen County and Lassen Trail were named after. In the small cemetery were only six other graves. All the ones buried there had died in the late 1800's.
I wrote an article a few weeks ago about Isaac Ebey. The title is "Whidbey Island, Isaac Ebey's Paradise" and can be found at this link: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art22084.asp
This week i wrote a follow-up article to go with it, titled "Isaac Ebey Of Whidbey Island" and can be found at the following link:

Both articles focus on the nine years that Isaac Ebey spent on the beautiful island of Whidbey in the Pacific Northwest. The folk tales and the ghost stories that surround the tragedy of Isaac Ebey are part of the history of this beautiful island paradise.
My most recent article, "Molly's Home Remedies" is about Molly Time and her herbal shop. I hope you enjoy that one, as I hope you enjoy all my articles.
It is so hard to believe that 2008 has come and gone so fast for me and now we are almost into the second month of 2009. I hope your year has started out with joy and good fortune and will continue to be so.
