The Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai (1780-1849) is probably best known for his woodblock print, "The Great Wave Off Kanagawa," part of his series, "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji." You may refer to an article I wrote about the Tsunami which caught much attention in 2005 when I wrote about the "Great Wave." At that time a reader contacted me with more information. Tsunami is actually a Japanese word meaning "Harbor Wave." The term was universally adopted in 1963 at an international conference.

Hokusai's "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji" (c.1831) is in the Art Institute of Chicago's permanent collection of Asian Art.
