Greetings and Salutations -
I've been struggling with the flu this week, so I've been more sluggy than active. I have my EAS shake in the morning, and then a smattering of clementines and hard boiled eggs and other "gentle food" plus tons of tea and water. I can't even do my yoga, which I miss intensely. I think I'm starting to feel better, so I'm looking forward to when I can be more active again!
In the meantime, here's a sobering wake-up call that we should pay close attention to. We are actively damaging our youth with the food we feed them and the lack of activity we often force them into. It's time for us to find a solution.
Obesity and Multiple Sclerosis
A study published in the January 30, 2013 issue of Neurology links obesity in girls to developing multiple sclerosis. This is yet another wake-up call as to how critical the childhood obesity issue is.

If you have an overweight girl in your life, brainstorm ways you can help. This isn't about "being mean". Be supportive! Offer to go walking in the mall. Offer to go walking in the park! Offer to go dancing or roller-skating or playing with the dogs or WHATEVER she likes. Be that fun pal she can go do things with.
Model healthy food behavior. Drink fun flavored waters. Make delicious, nutritious treats! The more you can demonstrate that being healthy is a normal, fun, wonderful way to be, the more we can turn around this challenge we face.
