Known as sand fleas, sand flies, or midges, no see ums are tiny swarming and biting flying insects that are normally found near water. The beach town of San Blas, Nayarit, where I will be visiting next week, is infamous for these annoying pests. Yet, as will be discussed in an upcoming article, the San Blas no see ums can be (not) seen as, depending on ones perspective, a positive for that town.
