October 10 2012 Cancer Newsletter

Hello and I hope you are enjoying the changing season!

This month is Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Even in my small town I have run into "pink washing". From my Twitter feed its happening everywhere, and is causing survivors much emotional strain. I am so sorry for this. Greed will always exist, but so does our care and love for one another. As someone suggested (my paraphrase), "...If you want to help someone with breast cancer, buy groceries, take the kids to school, or pay a bill." I think those are fantastic, practical ways to really help someone- great advice!

For many, this month causes more pain than pleasure, so if you need help I have found a good site called healmyptsd.com. The author blogs about her experience with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) openly- and uses humor to lighten things up. I like her approach! You can follow Michele Rosenthal on Twitter @lifeaftertrauma. She has 25 years experience and has written a memoir that sounds interesting!

On my personal blog Color Me Well, I've posted a recipe for Homemade Chicken (and Dumplings!), which I hope you will enjoy! Goto: color-me-well.blogspot.com.

I hope you have a blessed & healthy week!
