Greetings Everyone ~
I hope all affected by the fires here in Southern California were able to get back to their homes. There is a yahoo group set up for those in the region to access and seek assistance:

The following is information being passed on that was received by Lifetime Adoption:
Lifetime adoption is searching for two adoptive families who are open to these special situations. If you are interested in more information about either of these boys, please contact Amy Powers at 530-432-7373 or email her at
amy@lifetimeadoption.com.
Kyle is seven-years-old, Caucasian, and is a high functioning autistic. He
currently lives with his mother and two siblings in Wisconsin. He attends 2nd grade at the local public school, attending a pull-out special ed class two times per week. Kyle talks well and is very bright, but he does seem to "meltdown" when frustrated.
His mother is seeking adoption for him because, as a single mom with other
children, she feels as though she cannot devote the time and attention to
him that he needs. She believes he would find all he needs in a two parent
home.
Sammy is six-years-old, Caucasian/Asian, and also has autism. He currently
lives with his father in Texas who has full custody. Sammy is in first grade, attending mostly special ed classes including vocational and speech therapy. He is manageable, responds to direction, and is very active.
Sammy's father and step-mother are both in the military, and Sammy spends a
lot of time in daycare. Both could be deployed at any time to Iraq and have
come to the realization that Sammy needs more than they have to offer. They
are hoping to find a two parent home where the parents are home on a regular
basis.
Hopefully some families within the autism community can help these two boys out. It is sad to hear about the single parent and how she wants a two-parent family instead for her son.
The taping of the Montel Williams show on autism is set for November 2, 2007 in New York City. I hope to hear of the air date and pass that on in another newsletter. In case you did not know, today the TOYS R US BIG BOOK was inside the Sunday newspaper. Luckily my kids are at ages where there is not a real interest in items there, but I still like to look through it and see what is new and hot in the toy market.

If you are having a table at the Autism Walk LA on November 10, 2007 please let me know. I am still contemplating taking my kids for the fair portion. It all depends on the weather and my vehicle, and if my kids are cooperating that morning.
Enjoy the end of October and have a SAFE Halloween. We only give out candy and no one gets dressed up. Too many sensory issues to deal with and no one cares to get dressed up and go out and seek treats.
