What a fantastic summer this has been for new tatting books. Here are two more books to add to your collection. The first is from Jennifer Williams of the UK. Jennifer is a member of the Ring of Tatters and well-known for her graceful patterns shared with the Online Tatting Class (www.georgiaseitz.com.) Second is another new book by the Japanese tatting designer known as Sumie. This is the fifth in her series of books.

These "snowflakes" will serve double duty. Holidays decorations must move over as these lace pieces make stylish clothing accents and jewelry.

I believe that the title in English for this new book of tatting patterns is "Kawaii tatting handwork accessories." It is from the same series as her previous books, the Lady Boutique series #3928, pub. 2015. Note that the text is in Japanese but with these handy diagrams you can tat the pattern easily. I must add that some of these patterns have appeared in other of her books. But they are really cute.

And be sure to check out the new series of tatting pattern magazines from Italy. "Il Mio Chiacchierino" is published by Cigra in Milan. It is a slick glossy publication with about 50 pages in each issue.
Nadine Nunnelley just celebrated her 90-something birthday! She is a fourth generation tatter. Her new book focuses on removable or reusable tatted holiday ornament covers.
Annamaria's extraordinary use of ombre (not a variegated color which shows 3-4 distinct and separate colors but ombre which shows the color as dark, medium, light, medium, dark and repeats) colored threads is eye-catching in her doily book.

And a new name from Italy appeared this summer, too. "Needle Tatting from Donatella Ciotti" is the first book from her, an Italian tatting designer, that I have studied. Glossy covers open to display 22 "projects both modern and elegant" and 9 pages of tatting tutorials spread throughout 95 pages of gorgeously photographed lace in full color.
The Italian text is minimal as the designer relies on photo layouts to show the progress.
But don't miss my favorite Italian series,Il Lavoro Chiacchierino.
And there was Alicja's new book of nine tatted bracelets treatments. All the bracelets are embellished with regular beads, pearls and fancy beads.

Students of Toshiko Takashima's Japanese hook style tatting were delighted to see her book, too. Unlike shuttle tatting and traditional needle tatting, this tool does not hold a supply of thread with which to work.
Note the unique shape of the Japanese Hook Tatting Needles."
And the list goes on...what a great time to be a tatter!
Note: I acquired all these books for my personal tatting reference library except Nadine's which was a gift. G. Seitz
