The Hope Chest of Tatting.
Many of life's milestones may be marked with a gift of tatted lace.
Birth - A child's birth calls for tatted lace bedecked christening gowns, simple lace edgings on jumpers and little gowns. Silk bonnets of lace and baby booties, too.

Traditionally, the Hope Chest, also known as a dowry chest, cedar chest, bottom drawer or glory box, contains numerous items prepared for setting up a new household. Although today's modern women may purchase all that is needed, there is a special feeling about bed linens dressed with tatted edgings with matching pillowcases and tatted tablecloths and even tatted initials on towels and washcloths. Bed quilts, crazy quilts with tatted decorations and bed runners will give extra warmth to the bed.
