The state of Queretaro is the world's largest producer of fire opal. Although the vast majority of the fire opal is classified as semiprecious because those gems lack play of color, some of the gemstones display differing flashes of color when presented at varying angles and are deemed to be precious. Whether precious or semiprecious, the fire opal is a sight to behold!
