Treating Mothers for ADD

Greetings from the Land of OZ!

Having a child with Attention Deficit Disorder brought the problems that this brain difference causes squarely to my attention. It made me think about my life through a different filter. I became aware of how many areas in my life were affected by ADD, something that none of us had ever heard of when I was growing up in the 1950's. I am sure that my ADD affected my ability to give my son some of the structure that he needed. I am equally sure that it helped me to understand his frustrations and foster his unique creativity.

Women with undiagnosed ADD may have trouble with organization, impulsivity, distraction, and inattention. Often their symptoms are diagnosed as depression and treated with antidepressants. Getting ADD treatment for women who are mothers of children with ADD may improve the outcomes for the family.
