Telly Talk:

25% of the viewing public voted the Royle Family their favourite telly family. Del and sundry other Trotters from Only Fools and Horses romped in second.

The same survey also revealed that half of Britons eat dinner while watching the box at least once a week.

A new one off gameshow on ITV, Viewer of the Year, will challenge 50 of the most knowledgeable couch potatoes in the country to win a ₤50 000 prize. If you think you could qualify, call 09012 93 2006 or text VIEWER to 63337.

Apparently the Beeb has plans for more star searches, following How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria, which averaged 6 million viewers. Shows to be cast could include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and Grease.

ITV continues a move into BBC territory with a gaggle of period dramas planned for next year. Three Austen adaptations are already slated, Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, and it has just been announced Blackpool writer, Peter Bowker, will pen the screenplay for Wuthering Heights.

That's all for this week.

See you soon.
