Hello Everyone!

Food allergies are becoming so prevalent in today's society, it is not uncommon to see peanut-free classrooms or nut-free tables in our school lunchrooms. I've seen a lot of moms (those with allergy-free children) struggle and grumble about not being able to send their child to school with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It has been my experience that our children are much more tolerant of the changes food allergies are asking us to make. They step up to the plate and make sure their allergic friend is not eating anything they are not supposed to. They tell their parents - "Oh no - I cannot bring that to school. It was made in a factory that also makes nuts."

It is important for us to teach and model for our children empathy - and the ability to stand in someone else's shoes. Please read my latest article, a lovely child-friendly story about food allergies.
