Farmers' Market Mexican Style
Dating back to pre-Hispanic Mexico and Central America, tianguis are bazaar-like, open air markets, that in one form or another, occur throughout Mexico's nine regions. Travelers can learn much about the region's people, traditions, culture, foods, and products by attending a tianguis.

??????? Question of the week ???????

The state of Queretaro in the Central region of Mexico is famous for the production of what precious gemstone?

Answer to last week's question:

There are two types of huaraches. One is the traditional leather woven sandal.
The other is an antojito/snack, created in the 1930's, similar to sopes as they are fried and masa-based and are topped with a variety of ingredients, but unlike sopes, they are oblong-shaped like the sandal. Hence, they may referred to as "Mexican pizza."
