December 9 2008 Autism Spectrum Disorders Newsletter

Greetings Everyone ~

It has been a bit hectic in my household as I prepare final touches on autism twitter day, which takes place next Tuesday, December 16th. Tomorrow I am going to UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center to visit another special needs Mom who was diagnosed with Leukemia on Thanksgiving Day. I did a fundraiser on my blog and picking up some gift cards on my way over there.

Earlier tonight while watching World News with Charles Gibson on ABC I saw the announcement that tomorrow night is a segment on autism. Autism Answers from Medical Experts. The show airs at 6:30 PM EST/PST.

On Thursday is a repeat of a wonderful story of twin autistic savants Kay & Flo. This is on Discovery Health at 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM. I set an email reminder at their site. Nicholas and I watched this a few weeks back one Sunday and I wanted to tape it, but took tape out since I did not want to hog tv for one hour as Matthew had video in the other one. Five minutes into the show I realized my mistake. The sisters are in their early 50s and from NJ, same as me.

Have you seen the trailer for The Black Balloon yet or read any of the reviews? This is such a great performance of the actors and I base this on a two minute clip. It has won AFI awards and is based on true story of autism. The writer has two brothers on the spectrum.
