Welcome Letter
Food for the spirit, Food for the soul, Food for our bellies
I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you and thank you for subscribing to my newsletter at American Regional Cuisine at Bella Online. As the new editor of this site, I hope to bring to you some easy, fun and informative information and recipes from all of the different regions of the United States.
Many of us with busy schedules dread the thought of having to take out a pan and actually cook in it. It seems to cramp our time and then we have to wash dishes afterwards, so the appeal of take out and fast food seems to win out at our tables sometimes. But, and I say this with a smile on my lips, think to yourself for a moment if you would, “what if I could turn out some really nice food dishes, without a lot of time and hassle…hmmmm…and they taste great….I’m happy, my partners happy and my kids are happy” Sounds a bit like one of those Walgreen’s commercials where one can live in an ideal world.
Here’s my response “go for it and have some fun!” One of the simplest things we can do to pull a crowd together is to make food and make it together. Sometimes that can get a bit messier but one might think that the bonding and a few good laughs would make for a really enjoyable time.
The majority of my family lives back east in New England and I live in the Midwest so I don’t get the chance to cook my holiday meals for them now, however it seems that my cooking hasn’t slowed down at all. With my youngest son growing in leaps and bounds, his friends and my friends there doesn’t seem to be a day that goes by where cooking and baking aren’t happening here. There will be some recipes also that can be made in larger batches so that some can be frozen and thawed for that occasional day off.
I have owned and operated restaurants and catering businesses in New England and also consult for banquets and weddings which I still do in freelance along with my writing. My hope is that I can bring some of that experience and knowledge to your home in a fun and easy format
Something which is fairly new to me is having a forum. My new post will be, “Can’t wait for spring!” Please feel free to go to the forum linked on the site and post away. Also if there is a topic you would like feedback on go ahead and post it, sounds like this could be fun, I’m being bold and getting my feet wet with it so I thank you for any support you lend.
Feel free to forward this newsletter to anyone you think may be interested in American Regional Cuisine. It is truly a pleasure to be an editor for such a reputable and extensive web site as Bella Online.
I look forward to sharing with you and hearing from you,
Sue Simonds
