Welcome to the late February Walking newsletter
The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step!
And if you walk 2,000 steps that equals approximately 1 mile.
A good thing to help you keep motivated and plan your walking is to keep a walking log or diary.
It helps you to keep focused and to know what you are going to be doing and when.
You can plan your next month's walking. This is especially good if you are at work or have a young family. There are so many constraints on our time nowadays that it is good to know you will be able to fit in your walking.
So what should you put in your walking log?
Well start with how long you are going to walk for each day and leave space to add a comment as to whether you actually achieved this or not - or if indeed you walked for more time!
It is also good to note where you walked
whether it was inside or outside
if outside - the weather - type of surface you walked on etc.
It is worthwhile to note how you felt about your walking.
A walking log is an excellent way of keeping you on track with your walking. You can plan to walk with friends or family or work colleagues - because you should be able to talk as you walk - if you can't and are gasping for breath then slow down!
Many people like to add up how far they have walked each week/month and keep an anuual total - it is surprising how far you can walk.
Try plotting your miles on a map of America/Australia/Europe and see how far you can get.
