Work & Family

February 27 2007 Work & Family Newsletter

Hi Work and Family members,

Time moves so quickly, it is hard to believe that we will be into March in a few days. I am not sure if all Pisces folks are like me and can’t seem to wait for Daylight Savings Time. It begins March 11 and Nov. 4. I will be away from March 3 until March 10. What a lovely, coming home present. (smiling). Remember what we learned, Spring Ahead - Fall Back. See the rest of our calendar for March.

*March Monthly Calendar (07)*
National Women’s History Month. A time for re-examining and celebrating the wide range of women’s contributions and achievements that are too often overlooked in the telling of U.S. history.

You probably only think about traffic lights when they are not working. Can you imagine life without them? *Garrett Morgan Inventor of The Traffic Light*
Dr. Charles R. Drew and Garret Morgan gave America inventions that changed the world. Sarah Boone made the task of ironing easier. Black history is American history.

*Quotes for Inspiration *

The big dilemma about courage is that you never think anything you do remarkable when it’s instinctive. Anita Roddick

We need to find the courage to say NO to the things and people that are not serving us if we want to rediscover ourselves and live our lives with authenticity. Barbara De Angelis

*Making Ends Meet*

I finally visited a “Whole Foods” Market in my area; I was very surprised to find clothing and specialty products. I ignored that and stuck to matter at hand. I must admit that it is an amazing place and as pricey as some have said. However, I did find some items that were certified organic and inexpensive. If you want to shop at Whole Foods and still save money, look for their store brand, “365”; the label states “everyday value, and it proved to be true. See information about their private label, http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/products/list_privatelabel.html

Our new forum question is “What Can You Do Without? I do not have two of the ’sacreds’, no microwave oven and no cable television. Sometimes I miss both but later realize that I love using my kitchen stove. When I go away, I have access to cable television and spend a lot of time clicking quickly through a maze of reality shows and seeing more skin than I care to. I do love the cooking shows though. (smiling).

How about you, what can you or do you, do without? Visit our forum and let us know. Stop by, some of the answers will surprise you.

The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another’s desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. —Erma Bombeck
