As readers of the BellaOnline.com tatting newsletter, you will have heard before about the Online Tatting Class. It is free and fun. All are welcome to join us. We meet in an online classroom, which is safe and password protected. Lessons are posted in the class annual index and may be viewed and tried out before each class. There are three classes available, regular, design, and beginners. Classes meet once a week with two sessions, afternoon and evening depending on your time zone. Volunteers and mentors are available to help and the many of the tatters are multilingual. (Online translation apps are also handy.)
Since 2000 the Online Tatting Class (www.georgiaseitz.com) has held a special event to ignore the Superbowl and tat. Traditionally, there has been a 6 pt snowflake pattern known as the Superbowl Sunday Snowflake and/or a motif tatted by Wally Sosa known as her birthday motif.
All files are courtesy of the Online Tatting Class. This is a partial list of the patterns we have enjoyed for the last 17 years. You may seen the full list here on BellaOnline.com: http://www.bellaonline.com/subjects/8436.asp
BTW, if you happen to have any of the missing files, please share!
Each pattern is not only a delicate piece of lace but it contains techniques and treatments to teach tatters how to improve their work.

An early introduction of the uses of the self-closing mock ring and the inward facing picot were the highlight of this pattern.
2000

This snowflake is tatted with one shuttle only (and a long tail.) It is intended to give the newer tatters an exercise to practice joining outward facing rings in a center motif, or how to avoid the awkward last join whose picot almost always ends up twisted by "climbing out" with a split ring and a mock picot.
2001

This 3-dimensional snowflake was shared by the very talented Sharon Briggs. It takes concentration but is so worthwhile. The tatting is basic but the construction method must follow a strict order.
The new pattern will be available after the Superbowl game on Feb. 7, 2016.
