I was recently surprised by a telephone call from tatter and author, Nadine Nunnelley. She announced the publication of her third book, Tatted Christmas Balls #2.

You will recall Nadine's motto, "Watch My Shuttle Go!" Since Nadine is now 94, she has certainly lived up to her motto!

This new book presents 15 ball covers which are removable and can be reused on different holiday balls if ever the original delicate balls are damaged. Each cover ties on at the neck and is easily changed. The patterns require basic traditional tatting techniques.
Nadine has thoughtfully included a tear out page in the back. It shows in full color all 15 Christmas balls. This page is also laminated so you can carry with your tatting kit for easy use.
These designs are a real treat. Look closely at this detail page:

Each of the balls has a special design for the top/bottom of the ball. Very pretty each of them!

Planned with the student tatter in mind, Nadine A. Nunnelley's first book is a treasure house of basic instructions. It offers a solid foundation for learning the fundamentals of traditional tatting while encouraging the beginner to experiment with new techniques, too.
Nadine Nunnelley herself is a fourth generation tatter. Her great-grandmother taught her mother to tat. However, she learned to tat only after retirement when she devoted time to learn this beautiful art. And now she has taught two daughters and a daughter-in-law, a nephew, a grandson and two great-granddaughters to tat. Add to that a vast number of students from the many educational institutions, stores, senior centers and even her own home and the number is astounding!
Note: I received this book as a gift from Nadine who has been my friend for many years. G. Seitz

Collar 246 The Young Englishwoman These are rather old patterns and the directions are written in old-fashioned tatting terms. I have only 8 pages of the booklet and there is no date on it, unfortunately. But give this a try it is really dainty and I fell that it would be splendid in pastel colors.
