Hello Hikers,
Travel and work has eaten up all of my time as of late, but the approach of spring and the lure of a hiking trip somewhere south have me focusing my thoughts once again on the outdoors.
That -- and a request from a reader on where to backpack in British Columbia. An open-ended question like that takes a little bit to process, and then I started to have a lot of fun with the idea. Having worked in Mount Robson Provincial Park as a teen in youth camp -- it's one of my personal faves. But so is Garibaldi Provincial Park -- where I did my first backpacking trip with my sweetie. And what about the Juan de Fuca Trail (the quieter, more-laid southern sister to the infamous West Coast Trail) -- where my teen-aged daughter kindly offered to take some of my gear to speed up my pace?! Ah, the memories this request brought up!
Anyhow, please enjoy the latest article and know that I'm getting pumped about the approaching hiking season; hope you are too.
Where to Backpack in B.C.?
When asked for advice on backcountry hiking trips in British Columbia, I was momentarily thrown. How do I narrow down the thousands of options to just three suggestions?
