Ninetta Caruso introduced me to the treble tatting stitch (tds) in a presentation for the Online Tatting Class. Muskaan also prepared tutorials and photo displays to help us understand it.
This is Ninetta's sample of the tds used in the construction of a tatted heart.
Now we all need to review the basics of this technique.

The technique begins simply with a ring/chain in progress with 1 double stitch followed by a very small picot (vsp.) From there you must read and follow the directions one step at a time.
The variations in the look are made visible in this sample #4 by Muskaan.

I am still learning the basics of this technique. I am not yet confident of using it. But we all know that practice is all that is needed. So I was wondering about a pattern to try it out on.
I recalled this exercise where we took a piece of costume jewelry and tried to tat it or to create the effect in tatting.
Note: I do not recall the origin of the costume jewelry piece.
The estimated ds count is marked on the photo on the left. The number of ds should correspond closely to that. But what draws my attention now is the graduated shape of the bars of the piece itself. Notice how a jewel was added at the top of the bare to extend the height for a pointed effect. Now I think that this might be a good place to try out the treble ds.
