Here are some more facts about Ireland and Saint Patrick's Day:

The Irish flag is green, white and orange. The green symbolizes the people of the south, and orange, the people of the north. White represents the peace that brings them together as a nation.

Legend has it that each leaf of the clover means something: one is for hope, one is for faith, one is for love and the last for luck.

There are more Americans of Irish origin than there are Irish in Ireland approx. 36 million Americans claimed Irish ancestry in 2008. The population of Ireland was 4.4 million at the time.
