Several years ago, our family had the honor of completing a Sefer Torah. The whole community came to our home to complete the last letters in the Torah. Then, we escorted the Torah under a chuppah with music playing (one of our Rabbis on the back of a pick up truck with his keyboard) and people walking in the neighborhood streets to our shul a few blocks away. We all remember the heat of an Arizona fall as well as the magnificence of bringing the first Torah into our community.
