International Organization of Lace is calling for patterns

This huge organization strives to keep lacemaking (including tatting) alive and in the public eye. Their 64th annual convention, hosted by the Liberty Lacers & IOLI, will be held Sunday, July 16 - Saturday, July 22, 2017 in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania at the Radisson Valley Forge Hotel. It is on the Pennsylvania Turnpike north of Philadephia.

If you are not yet a member, do please consider joining. "IOLI membership benefits include:
A quarterly publication, the IOLI Bulletin, which includes articles,
patterns, ideas and news of lace-related activities.
Access to lending libraries for books, periodicals, videotapes, slides
A traveling lace study box.
A handbook including a directory of IOLI charter chapters and members throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and 23 foreign countries.
Grants for the enhancement of lace education and study.
An annual convention offering:
Lectures and classes for a variety of lacemaking techniques,
including bobbin and needle laces, tatting, crochet and knitting.
A display of lace-collected and made by IOLI members and friends.
A gathering of lacemaking suppliers.
Tours and other lace-related events."

And it brings so many lacers together in friendship and learning. And meeting other tatters who might be in your area as well as guilds for monthly meetings, too. IOLI Charter Guild and regional groups form a great network who teach and demonstrate too.

Each year IOLI gives the Charter Chapters a gift CD of patterns and tips to share with their guild members, put in their newsletters, use during their lace retreats/weekends, for a meetings with guild members, just to name a few opportunities with this CD. This gift is given out during the annual convention.

The theme for this CD is "Holidays and Special Occasions." Patterns are not limited to this theme, however, it would be a nice collection of patterns for seasons of the year.

The deadline to submit patterns is May 1st, 2017. The patterns must be submitted by the designer of the pattern (IOLI members. This is the time to join!) If possible, please send your patterns in PDF format.

Here's the latest article from the Tatting site at BellaOnline.com.

Why I tat? This poem was written by Sariah Joy, a tatter and friend with whom I have lost contact over the years. Maybe she will see her poem online and get back in touch. She shared this with tatters from the Online Tatting Class years ago.
