Well, the wild horses never did grow much fur on their bellies, which should have told us we were going to have a mild winter.

Did you do any camping in any of the beautiful parks of the Appalachians this winter? Camping is a year round activity and most parks are open for your winter camping fun. Yeah, it might be pretty darn cold in the early mornings, but that just makes that first cup of coffee or hot chocolate taste all the more better. With your hands wrapped around a tin cup of coffee sure makes the soul warm up, not to mention the fingers.

Give yourself a real treat and try camping during the winter months. The joy of that campfire, the hot coffee, the hearty breakfast, and the day hiking will keep you warm and lift your spirits.

Land Of The Powhatan - 1600's
Over 12,000 years ago the area that is now known as Virginia in the USA was home to the Powhatan and many other tribes of the Algonquian peoples.

Chief Powhatan was so tall and at his ceremonial coronation by the English colonists, he refused to kneel to have the crown placed on his head. A few English men had to hold another one up to put the crown on the head of the chief.
