Tatted sampler in size 20 thread, with 5 repeats Row I only, with 4 repeats joined back on itself.

If you want to climb out to next rows, use 2 shuttles, CTM, and these instructions are given within box brackets. They are also indicated in the diagram (pink broken lines) continuous thread .

*Ring C : 2 +(B) 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2.
Ring D : 2 +(C) 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2.
Ring E : 2 +(D) 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2.
Ring F : 2 +(E) 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2. RW
Chain : 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1. RW
Ring G : 2 +(F) 2 - 2 - 2 - 2. RW
Chain : 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1. RW

Repeat from * to * for desired length, ending with Ring G.

OR climb out to Row 2 with a split ring …
SR-G : 2 + 2 - 2 / 2 - 2.
Rotate Work and continue after mock picot.
REFER TO DIAGRAM on page 1 ROW II:
Tie ball and shuttle threads to 2nd picot of Ring A.
Chain : 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 LJ to middle picot of row 1 chain
Repeat from to to end.
Attach last chain to 3rd picot of Ring G.
T&C.
OR climb out to Row 3 with a split chain …
SCh : 1 - 1 - 1 / 1 - 1 - 1.
Turn work and continue after mock picot, making the first ring a split ring.
ROW III : to climb in to Row 3, make first ring a split ring …
SR : 2 - 2 / 2 - 2. Continue.
Tie ball and shuttle threads.
˜Ring : 2 - 2 + 2 - 2. RW
Chain : 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1. RW˜
Repeat from ˜ to ˜ for entire length, ending with a ring. RW.
Continue.
ROW IV : Continue from Row 3
˜Chain : 3 - 3. LJ to center picot of Row 3 chain.
Repeat from ˜ to ˜ for entire length.
Join to base of last ring of Row 3. T&C.
ROW V : Tie ball and shuttle threads.
Chain : 1 - 1 - 1 - 1. LJ. Repeat 7 times total (around one scallop).
Chain : 3 LJ ˜
Repeat from ˜ to ˜ for entire length. Hide all ends.
NOTE : Row I ruffles a lot. Hence it needs simple blocking and shaping with fingers while still damp. This can be done after entire lace is tatted.
An alternate path to work the entire lace in one pass : Follow this sequence, making a few required changes when climbing out … Row I to Row V to Row II to Row III to Row IV.
