One of the greatest American architects is Frank Lloyd Wright. He is best known for his Prairie style homes across America. I was amazed to learn he designed a skyscraper, the Price Tower, located in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
What is unique to Frank Lloyd Wright was how he not only designed the structure of a residential building, but also the furnishings. His love of nature was evident in the colors and designs he used. He had a special gift for blending outdoor and indoor living spaces.
This year commemorates the 50th anniversary of the completion of the Price Tower. Wright had already built modern office buildings: the Larkin and Johnson Wax buildings. The Price Tower is occupied by commercial offices, retail space and residences. Besides fine dining and exclusive shopping, exhibitions of art, architecture, and design may be found at the Arts Center which began collecting contemporary art, including the sculpture, "Sixty-Six" by Robert Indiana.
