Hi Moms!

The National Confectioners Association is currently running a “Make Mine Chocolate!” campaign to encourage people to buy chocolate and candy Easter bunnies instead of the real deal for Easter morning.

They have supplied us with the following Easter fun facts:

* 90 million chocolate Easter bunnies are made in the U.S. for Easter each year.

* 76 percent of people bite the ears of candy bunnies first

* Each day, five million marshmallow chicks and bunnies are produced in
preparation for Easter.

* 82 percent of Americans say they would prefer a chocolate or candy bunny
for Easter, while only 4 percent say they would prefer a live rabbit.

* The worlds largest jar of jelly beans weighed 6,050 pounds.

* 16 billion jelly beans are made for Easter (that’s enough to completely
fill an 89 feet high and 60 feet wide plastic Easter egg about the
height of a nine-story office building!)

88 percent of adults carry on the Easter tradition of creating Easter
baskets for their kids.

* According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the largest Easter egg
ever made was just over 25-ft high and made of chocolate and marshmallow.
It weighed 8,968 lbs.

* The first chocolate eggs were made in Europe in the early 19th century
and remain among the most popular treats associated with Easter.

* 82 percent of respondents said they would prefer a chocolate or candy bunny for Easter, while only 4 percent said they would prefer a live rabbit.

* The leading reason confectionery bunnies hop to the top of the gift giving
list is that they do not require feeding or clean up, as cited by 38
percent of survey respondents.

* Americans prefer a solid chocolate bunny (42 percent) a hollow chocolate bunny (21 percent), marshmallow bunny (10 percent) and other types of Easter bunny candy (9 percent).

Happy Easter!
