Telly Talk:

More than 13 million tuned in as the verdict was delivered on the latest Weatherfield One- Tracy Barlow. If you weren't among the 13 million, you can read just what went down on Corrieblog.

At last, the waiting is over as Dr Who begins a third season. Reviews seem very positive- check out what one of my fave telly sites, The Custard, has to say on the subject.

Speaking of David Tennant, the latest Time Lord was recently voted the coolest guy on TV by Radio Times Readers. Others in the top ten include the lush wet-shirted -one Colin Firth, for P&P, Gene Hunt for Life on Mars and, get this, Henry Winkler as Fonzie in Happy Days ???

Ade Edmonson is back. That crazy fella Vyvan from the cult eighties hit, The Young Ones, will play a middle aged divorced guy called Vernon in Teenage Kicks, coming soon on ITV1. Exec. Producer Phil McIntyre calls the project “five star mayhem”. Should be right up Edmonson's street then...

For better or worse- Sir Jimmy Savile returns. That silver haired fix it fella of the chunky bling is back on UKTV Gold as part of a relentless plan to revive those bits of childhood telly well remembered by us 30 and 40 somethings. The show peeks at some old clips revealing great “fix- its”of yesteryear, and some commentary by the man himself. Can anyone forget (or would you want to ?) the boy scouts eating their lunch on a roller coaster ?

After seven and a half years and some very dramatic storylines, Tina O'Brien is to quit her role as Sarah Platt. She will exit the cobbles in November, in a dramatic storyline, but will not be killed off.

Well, no newsletter lately would be complete without a John Simm reference :) and as the finale of Life on Mars is fast approaching, you might like to check out his video diary, in which he muses on the series and that final episode....
