In the midst of sadness, came great joy. During the period from Pesach to Shavuot years ago, a great plague came upon the students of Rabbi Akiva. His students - thousands of them - were dying. On the 33rd day of the Omer, the plague stopped. Today, we continue to celebrate Lag B'Omer - what a great time to acknowledge all the good things in our lives!

Lag B'Omer occurs on the 33rd day of the Counting of the Omer. The mourning period of the Omer is suspended and we celebrate with barbeques, bonfires and parades.
