What a wonderful trip I had to the Shuttlebirds Tatting Guild 2019 Tat Days held in Idaho this year. A delightful forest setting on a fine lake offered a relaxing site to learn to tat and renew tatting friendships.
And the return trip allowed me to stretch my legs, for my health's sake, of course, to prevent swelling, at many intriguing places along the road. Once, I walked around Old Faithful waiting for it to blow and discovered a great bookstore but it had no tatting books. And once, at a rest stop, I chatted with some visitors from mainland China but never discovered if any of them tatted as we were run off by a passing bison. But a random stop at a roadside antique store proved fruitful.
A sack full of edged hankies lay next to an old doily. As an inducement to purchase the sack, the seller offered to throw in this doily free. How could I resist? I was not impressed with the tatting on it. Until I got home and studied it. Then I remembered Jean's shawl.
